Olympic silver medallist and strength and conditioning specialist Mark Robertson has more than a decade of professional rugby experience under his belt, having represented the Border Reivers, Edinburgh Rugby and Scotland A before moving into international sevens. He has now spent five years travelling around the world representing Scotland on the international circuit.
A former Melrose player, Mark was one of only two Scots included in the GB rugby sevens squad that won silver in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games – the first time rugby has been included in the Olympics since 1924. Since his return, he has been heavily involved in supporting and inspiring children across the country to pursue their goals in sport.
Mark is a sports science graduate, holds a MSc from Edinburgh University, a UKSCA accredited coaching qualification and has completed UKCC rugby coaching certificates level 1 and 2. He has spent two years coaching young players with George Heriots School in Edinburgh and was previously head backs coach with Peebles RFC in the Scottish Borders.
Mark has also spent valuable time with St Vincent Sports Performance in the US, learning about specialist coaching and the training techniques of NBA and NFL players.
